We love reading in Room 5!

We have been choosing books to read to ourselves and also to read to our classmates.  Dr Suess books are a favourite.
Look at these photos to see how we are enjoying these books.

Pyjama Day

On Friday we all wore our pyjamas to school.  We were helping Zoe raise funds for her friend who has leukemia.   When children are sick in hospital they often wear their pyjamas all day.  We all spent a very comfortable day at school in our pyjamas and none of us fell asleep!
Well done Zoe.  Our class was happy to help you.

Athletic Sports

What a wonderful day we had for our athletic sports.  Room 5 really enjoyed sharing their day with their families who came to watch.  We had all practiced hard to become good runners.  Did you notice how we pumped our arms to make us run faster?  It really worked Room 5.  You are awesome athletes!

We watched the races while we waited to run.

Running in the sprints
Jumping

Our favourite activity was the pony jumps.

Keeping Ourselves Safe if we get Lost

At our Room 5 assembly on Friday we did a role play about what we need to do if we get lost.  We pretended that a boy was lost in Queensgate Mall.  He remembered to do all the right things.  First he found an adult who he could trust.  Next he told the adult his name, address and phone number.
Good acting.  You showed the school that you know what to do if you get lost.  You projected your voices so we could all hear.  Well done.

KOS

In Keeping Ourselves Safe today Constable Blue came and talked to us about our body parts. He taught us the correct names for our body parts so that when we go to the doctor we can use the correct terms.

PLP

Wednesday was our final PLP session for this term.  We had fun driving in pairs, playing 'What's the Time Mr Wolf' and a game where we had to dodge a rolling ball.

Bushbuilders Action Day

On Tuesday Kim, from the zoo, came to school and brought us a variety of native New Zealand trees for us to plant.  We told her about the bird feeders we made and told her how they are attracting heaps of birds.  We found out that if we planted native trees and flaxes that we will attract even more birds and butterflies to our playground.
We were lucky to have some Dads to dig the holes for us.  We all helped to loosen the earth to 'waken the roots' to make the plant spread its roots and grow.

We all helped to plant the trees.  Finally we watered them with some worm wee that Tara got us from our school worm farm.  We can now watch them grow into strong trees!

Loud Shirt Day

On Friday we wore our brightly coloured shirts to school for Loud Shirt Day.  We were raising money to help fund cochlear implants for children who are deaf.  We raised $192 in a coin trail.

Don't we look good in our 'loud' shirts.
